संक्षिप्त नाम और विस्तार–
(1) इस अधिनियम का संक्षिप्त नाम भारतीय वन अधिनियम, 1927 है ।
2[(2) इसका विस्तार उन राज्यक्षेत्रों को छोड़कर, जो प्रथम नवम्बर, 1956 से ठीक पूर्व भाग ख राज्यों में समाविष्ट थे, संपूर्ण भारत पर है ।
(3) यह उन राज्यक्षेत्रों को लागू है जो प्रथम नवम्बर, 1956 से ठीक पूर्व बिहार, मुम्बई, कुर्ग, दिल्ली, मध्य प्रदेश, उड़ीसा, पंजाब, उत्तर प्रदेश तथा पश्चिमी बंगाल में समाविष्ट थे, किन्तु किसी भी राज्य की सरकार राजपत्र में अधिसूचना द्वारा इस अधिनियम को उस पूर्ण राज्य में या उसके किसी विनिर्दिष्ट भाग में, जिस पर इसका विस्तार है और जहां पर यह प्रवर्तन में नहीं है, प्रवर्तन3 में ला सकेगी ।]

[ Indian Forest Act Section 1 in English ] –
“Short title and extent”–
(1) This Act may be called the Indian Forest Act, 1921
1[(2) It extends to the whole of India except the territories which, immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in Part B States.
(3) It applies to the territories which, immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in the States of Bihar, Bombay, Coorg, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Punj Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal; but the Government of any State may by notification in Official Gazette bring this Act into force2 in the whole or any specified part of that State which this Act extends and where it is not in force.]
